Vehicle Wraps - Trailer Wraps FAQ

My trailer has rivets / corrugated sides. Will the wrap still look good and stay on?
Yes, we can absolutely wrap trailers with riveted or corrugated sides. It’s a common scenario and we have the right materials and techniques for it. Visually, when we wrap over rivets or into grooves, the vinyl will contour to those shapes. You’ll see the outline of rivet heads (it looks like little round indents, which can actually complement the industrial look). With corrugations, from a distance you hardly notice any texture – up close, you’ll see the vinyl conforms into the dips. The key is, we heat and press the vinyl thoroughly around each rivet and into each corrugation so that it’s well seated. This prevents tenting (where vinyl might bridge over a recess). Properly done, the wrap won’t lift from those areas. It is a bit more labor-intensive to install, but the outcome is a wrap that looks like it was made for that surface. Durability-wise, as long as those rivets were secure and not leaking any rust or anything, the vinyl around them will stick just fine. We also often use a touch of edge sealant or primer around rivets if needed. So you can be confident the wrap will adhere and look professional. If your trailer is extremely corrugated (like deep flutes) and maybe not ideal for a full coverage graphic, one option is we sometimes do a design that incorporates that (like using striping or separate decals on each flat section instead of one giant image), but generally we prefer full wrap and it works out great. We’ll discuss with you based on how your trailer is built. But rest assured, rivets and corrugation are the norm, not an issue.
Can I wrap just a portion of my trailer or do decals instead of a full wrap?
Absolutely – we can tailor the graphics to your needs and budget. A full wrap means covering the entire visible area, which makes the most impact, but it’s not always necessary. If you want to save cost or you have a simpler design, we can do a partial wrap or spot decals. For example, some clients opt to wrap just the sides and not the rear, or only the upper half of the trailer sides with graphics while the bottom remains the original color. Others might do large decals (like a logo and tagline) on a still-exposed base color trailer. Partial coverage can be very effective if your trailer’s base color works with your branding (or we can even change the base color with a partial wrap on just certain sections). We’ll design in a way that the edges of a partial wrap look natural, maybe fading out to the trailer color or integrating with it. Doing only a portion can significantly cut material and labor costs, making it a budget-friendly option. And if your trailer is already, say, white and you have a clean logo and text, sometimes just big vinyl decals on the white can look as good as a wrap (white is a common background that suits many brands). We will present options in the design phase: maybe a full background vs. using the trailer’s color as background, etc. It’s ultimately your call – we’re here to achieve your visual goals in a cost-effective way. Also note, if you have multiple trailers, you could choose to fully wrap one “hero” trailer and do simpler decals on others to maximize budget. Totally flexible. Just let us know what you’re aiming for, and we’ll propose solutions accordingly.
How do I care for my wrapped trailer? Especially with those big graphics, can I take it through a truck wash?
Maintenance for a trailer wrap is straightforward. For the most part, treat it like a painted trailer. Regular washing with a mild detergent and water is recommended to remove road grime and salts (especially in winter if roads are salted). If you normally go through a truck wash (the ones with big brushes), be aware that very aggressive brushes can potentially scratch the laminate or, if they catch a loose edge, could peel a corner. Our wraps shouldn’t have loose edges – we secure and overlap them – so it’s usually fine, but to be safe, touchless or hand washing is best. Many fleet wraps endure brush washes without issue, but gentle is always better for longevity. Pressure washing is okay if done carefully: keep the nozzle at least 12-18 inches away and at an angle (not shooting water directly into a seam). Avoid super high pressure directly on vinyl edges or on riveted areas at close range, as water could force its way under if done aggressively. But normal pressure rinse from a distance is fine. Also avoid extremely hot pressure wash (very high temperature water) as it can soften adhesive. For cleaning dirt, a soft brush or sponge will work; avoid harsh scouring pads on the vinyl. If you get fuel or chemical spills on the trailer, wash them off promptly – the laminate protects against many chemicals, but it’s best not to let them sit. The wrap has a UV protective layer, so sun alone won’t harm it quickly; you’ll get years out of it before any sun fade is noticeable. If the trailer sits parked for long periods, it’s a good idea to occasionally rinse dust off – accumulated dirt can eventually stain if left for months. But our laminate is pretty stain-resistant. If you ever notice an edge lifting slightly (perhaps a rivet area over time), give us a call – we can often repair a small section easily. But that’s uncommon if care guidelines are followed. In summary: yes, you can use truck washes – just opt for ones known to be wrap-friendly (some advertise that) or instruct the wash techs to use a gentler touch if possible. Many of our customers do exactly that for convenience. The wraps are tougher than you might think – they’re meant for commercial use. We’ll provide a care sheet after installation as well. Following those tips will ensure your trailer graphics stay vibrant and intact for the long haul.
