Typically, we apply the vinyl over the rivet and then use heat and a tool to press the vinyl tight around each rivet head. The vinyl may not be perfectly flat between rivets if there are deep recesses, but our goal is to make it as smooth as possible. And remember, if a section ever does get damaged (say a branch scrapes the graphic), you can often replace just that panel of vinyl without redoing the whole truck, which is convenient.
