Vehicle Wraps - Commercial FAQ

Is Paint Protection Film really invisible? Will it change how my car looks?

PPF is virtually invisible. Once installed and cured, you’ll have to look very closely to spot it. It’s designed not to affect your car’s appearance. In fact, because it’s a glossy, clear film, it often enhances the shine of your paint, making it look even more glossy. You won’t see any dramatic difference in color or finish. Only in a few places might you detect the film’s edge – for example, if only part of a panel is covered, you might see a subtle line where the film ends (we try to align those with body lines or wrap around edges to hide them). If the whole panel is covered, you won’t see a line at all. From a couple of feet away, the film is essentially invisible. Most people will have no idea your car has PPF – they’ll just think you somehow never get rock chips! Also, our high-quality films are non-yellowing, so they won’t discolor over time; your white car won’t suddenly have a tint, for instance. In short, PPF’s beauty is that it protects without altering the look. The only time you might notice it is if it takes a damage hit – and even then, often the self-healing will make that disappear too.

Which areas of my car should I get PPF on?
It depends on your usage and concerns. The most popular option is the Full Front: this covers the forward-facing surfaces that get hit by debris – typically the front bumper, full hood, full front fenders, and side mirrors. These areas get the brunt of rocks and bugs, so shielding them keeps your car looking new. Some clients also do the headlights to prevent clouding and pitting. Beyond that, other high-risk areas are: the rocker panels (the lower sides of the car, especially if you have wider tires that kick up debris), the rear wheel arch areas (for sports cars that fling rocks down the side), and door edges and handle cups (to prevent paint chips and nail scratches). For a truly worry-free experience, you can do the entire vehicle in PPF – every painted surface. This is common for supercars or very high-end cars where owners want total protection. If your budget doesn’t allow full coverage, we’ll work with you to target the most important areas. Even a partial coverage can be beneficial – for example, you could just do the front bumper and hood leading edge if that’s all you want. Each piece of PPF helps. We will give our professional recommendation based on your car model (some cars have very chip-prone areas) and how/where you drive.
How long does PPF last and what’s the maintenance like?
Our Paint Protection Films come with long warranties, often 10 years, against defects like yellowing or cracking. In practice, well-maintained PPF can last even longer. So, you’re looking at up to a decade of protection. Over that time, the film will bear the brunt of abuse – it might get scuffed or marked, but that means your paint isn’t. As for maintenance, PPF is pretty easy: you just wash it along with the rest of your car. It’s safe to go through touchless car washes, or you can hand wash. Avoid harsh chemicals (stick to regular car wash soap). Don’t polish the film with abrasive compounds, as that can dull it – but you typically won’t need to polish since it’s not like a clear coat that swirls in the same way. You can wax or put ceramic coating on PPF if you want to make it even more glossy or easier to clean, but it’s not required. One thing to note: refrain from using pressure washers too close to the edges of the film – blasting the edges directly could lift them; it’s fine to pressure wash the car, just keep the nozzle a safe distance and angle from edges. If an edge ever does lift slightly, let us know – we can usually fix it. PPF is self-healing for minor swirl marks (with a bit of heat, like a warm day or a quick pour of warm water, those will go away), but if you get a deeper gouge in the film from a larger impact, you might see that. The good news is you can replace just that section of film. Maintenance is mostly about cleaning and enjoying your car. There’s no special upkeep needed to keep the protective qualities – it’s always on guard. After several years, if the film does start to show its age, you can have it removed and replaced, revealing factory-fresh paint beneath. Think of it as changing a screen protector on a phone – after it’s done its job for a long time, you put a new one on and continue protecting the underlying surface. We’ll be here to support whatever maintenance or reapplication you need in the future.
