How Traditional Print Marketing Can Work In Conjunction with Social Media to Build a Brand

Some business owners feel that print marketing and social media are two different things that can never come together – this isn’t true. You’re doing your brand a disservice by holding to this idea. With a little bit of work and planning, you can forge a connection and bring your business into a new era.

Provide QR Codes

QR codes may go up and down in terms of popularity, but you can’t deny that they work and work well. It’s easy to direct customers to a social media page without taking up a lot of space on your printed materials. A person can scan the code using a tablet or smartphone and gain immediate access. Best of all, there are many websites on the Internet that can generate QR codes for free – you don’t have to spend money and cut into your budget.

Put Social Media Comments and Testimonials in Your Printed Ads

If you want your printed items to send the message that your brand is trustworthy and reliable, display social media comments from real customers. You shouldn’t pay people to write testimonials, but you can encourage them. Host a contest or drawing and stipulate that participants must leave a positive comment about you on one of your social media accounts in order to enter. Don’t use a testimonial unless you have permission from the customer. If you need to edit something, limit your focus to grammatical errors. Include the names and geographical locations of the individuals who wrote the comments you wish to use. This will add authenticity.

When used alone, social media and print marketing bring their own unique benefits. One is not necessarily better than the other. However, when you combine them, you increase your influence in the business community and make a different kind of connection with your customers. You solidify your brand and show a willingness to adapt to the modern world. A constant cycle of promotion is never a bad thing. No matter what your market, it’s worth a try.
