How To Run a Successful Holiday Marketing Campaign Via Social Media

The holiday season is here, and businesses around the world are scrambling to attract customers. It’s time to start thinking of ways you can include the holidays in your social media marketing. Where do you start? What are you supposed to do?

Create a Special Holiday Hashtag on Twitter

If you want to get people into the shopping spirit, make a unique hashtag and encourage people to use it. For example, a hashtag like #YourStoreHolidayShopping or #StoreNameChristmasMagic could work. If enough people use it, your hashtag may just make it to the list of trends on Twitter. Make sure the tag is easy to remember. Pay attention to who is using the tag and note it for future reference. If you don’t garner enough content from people, link to relevant news articles and blog posts and use the tag. Someone will take notice if you put in the effort.

Ask People to Share Stories, Images, and Tips

Get people talking about the things that mean the most to them during the holiday season. Start a discussion and keep it as active as possible. Ask your followers questions like “Do you have a favorite holiday tradition?” or “What is the best thing you ever found in your stocking?” – try to be creative. Tell everyone to take pictures of the decorations in their homes. Ask them to send tips for making perfect holiday brownies. However, don’t overdo the holiday content. You may annoy your followers who don’t care for this time of year. Tweet regular content at least once a day.

Get People to Upload YouTube Videos and Send Them to You

If you sell cars, tell your customers to decorate their cars and send videos to show off the results. If you own a pet store, ask for videos of pets wearing festive outfits. If you don’t wish to do this, make your own videos and hide codes in the content. Let people know about this feature. Those who find the codes may get discounts on future purchases or free samples, among other things. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Remember – when it comes to demographics, every social media website is different. For example, Twitter users may be young and hungry for new technology. Tailor your campaign accordingly.
