Beware of Scam Artists Representing the Boys and Girls Club – Its a Scam

*This video is not from the BGCNV but does represent what’s going around – nationwide. Please be on the lookout

CHICO, Calif— It has been brought to the attention of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the North Valley that scam artists have been going door-to-door asking for donations on behalf of the BGCNV. It is important to remember that the BGCNV does not ever go door-to-door at personal homes to ask for donations. If someone comes to your door asking for donations on behalf of the BGCNV please report it immediately to the police or directly to the club at (530) 899-0335.

Individuals going around presenting themselves as BCCNV members are brought in to the community– often by a large white unmarked van – and are trained and knowledgeable scam artists. These scam artists go against everything that the BGCNV represents. The BGCNV prides itself on being an organization that teaches kids honesty, respect, integrity and the value of hard work – these scam artists take children and teach them how to lie, cheat and steal from the community.

Please be wary of any children or adult going door-to-door and immediately report it. These groups have been scamming people for years and years; please do not give them any money.  It is important to report these incidents to help stop these scam artists. Help spread the word by warning your friends, families and neighbors about these scams.

“It’s tragic, it’s sad, it’s taking advantage in so many ways. These good people who want to contribute to a good cause are getting taken advantage of by thieves. It’s disheartening that they are taking away from local kids and harming fundraising efforts to provide them  with food programs, educational programs and more,” said Rashell Mieko Brobst, CEO of BGCNV. “It’s just heartbreaking, it really is.”

The BCNV does not solicit the community in this way and prides themselves onbeing good stewards of donations and providing safe and secure ways of collecting donations.

The BGCNV has helped over 2,099 kids and continues do so through fundraising events such as the Links Fore Kids Golf Tournament, Paradise Cook-Off, Oroville Food Truck Fest and other well publicized events. If you would like to contribute to the BGCNV the best and safest way to donate is going directly to their website, www.bgcnv.org.

The Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley has served this community for over 17 years, is impacting the lives of over 2099 kids and will continue to do so through direct mail campaigns, events, fundraisers and by reaching out face-to-face to local businesses and community members.

LRT is proud to be on the marketing committee for the BGCNV helping with marketing, printing, custom apparel and more. It’s our pleasure to help with groups like the BGCNV that go above and beyond to give back to the children of the community to help impact the future leaders of our town.
