Jobsite & Real Estate Signs FAQs

How big can my jobsite or real estate sign be?
The size can vary widely based on your needs and local regulations. Common real estate yard signs are 18” x 24” for residential, which is big enough to be seen from the street in front of a house. Commercial real estate signs (for larger properties or developments) might be 4’ x 4’ or 4’ x 8’ plywood or aluminum signs mounted on posts. Construction project signs can also be 4’ x 8’ or even larger if the site frontage allows. However, many municipalities have sign ordinances that restrict temporary sign sizes and placements (especially in residential zones). We’ll definitely check those rules – for instance, a city might limit realtor signs to 6 square feet, or a construction announcement sign to 32 square feet. If you’re out in a rural area or on private land, you often have more leeway. Practically, you want the sign big enough to read from the nearest road. We’ll advise you: for example, if cars are 50 feet away, a 4×8 sign with large text could be appropriate. We’ll balance impact with legality.
What information should I put on a real estate sign?

For a typical residential real estate sign, you’ll want: “For Sale” (or For Rent/Lease), the property address or a feature (optional if it’s obvious on-site), your Realty company name/logo, your name (agent), and contact info (usually a phone number, sometimes a website). Many signs also list a key feature or tagline like “3 Bed / 2 Bath / 2,000 SqFt” or “Quiet Neighborhood” – just something to entice. If you use QR codes or text codes, that’s a modern addition so people can get details on their phone. Don’t overload the sign with too much text because passersby have only a few seconds; we’ll design for quick readability. If it’s a development or commercial property, the sign might have a project name (e.g., “Sunset Plaza – Coming 2025”), the developer’s and leasing agent’s logos, and contact information for inquiries. We can also include “Available square footage” or other selling points in bullet form. During design, we’ll ensure the most important info (usually the fact it’s for sale/lease and the phone number) is very prominent. Additional info can be slightly smaller.

Will the colors fade or the sign get ruined in the sun and rain?

We use outdoor-grade materials and UV-resistant inks, so our signs are built to endure sun and weather. For example, the prints are rated for multi-year outdoor use without significant fading. We also laminate many printed signs which adds an extra layer of UV protection and shields against moisture and abrasions. Aluminum and coroplast won’t deteriorate with rain; wood-based signs are sealed to prevent rot. That said, all outdoor signs will eventually show some wear after long exposure – a coroplast sign might last a year or more in good shape, but after that you might notice some slight fading or warping. An aluminum sign can look good for many years. We recommend using reflective vinyl for critical info if the sign needs nighttime visibility (that material doesn’t fade easily and lights up in headlights). Also, extreme conditions (like constant high UV in a desert climate) can shorten the lifespan of prints a bit. Overall, you can expect the sign to remain effective and presentable for the duration of a standard listing or project. If a sign is intended for very long-term use (many years), we might suggest an extra-durable solution like baked enamel prints or changeable inserts that you can replace as needed. We’ll match the production to your longevity needs.

Can I reuse my real estate signs for multiple listings?

Yes, many agents do. If your signs are generic with just your branding and contact, you can absolutely transfer them to new listings. We often print riders (small attachable panels) that have property-specific info (like “Pool Home” or the address) or status (“Sold”, “In Escrow”) that can be swapped out. Those riders attach to the top or bottom of your main sign via screws or hooks. That way, your main sign with your name and number stays the same; only the rider changes per property. If you invest in a high-quality metal sign frame and panels, you can reuse them for years, just updating riders. Some agents also opt for brochure boxes on the sign – these can be reused and just refilled with new flyers. We’ll make sure your materials are durable for reuse – for example, aluminum or Alumacore panels for the sign face won’t rust when moving from yard to yard. And if your branding changes or phone number updates, we can print new panels to fit in your existing frames. So yes, think of these signs as an asset you can keep using. We’ll help you get the most mileage out of them.
