4 Social Media Graphic Design Tips

When it comes to social media, visuals are always important. They demand attention and encourage your customers to click on links. But how can you create wonderful images? How do you make something that stands out from the crowd? It doesn’t have to be a difficult or stressful process. The tips below will help you get started.

1. Be Careful With Copyrights

Some businesses choose to use stock images when they put together graphics for social media. They think these images will save time and make them look professional. However, stock images can spell big trouble. If you don’t give proper credit to the source, you could run into legal trouble. Customers will also be able to tell that an image is stock, and this will prevent them from taking you seriously. It doesn’t matter if you only intend to share an image without altering it. Save yourself the trouble and stay away.

2. Take Your Own Pictures

Instead of using stock images taken by other people, consider putting your photography skills on display. Customers appreciate it when business owners go out of their way to make things more personal, and this is a great way to accomplish that. Use something you took while on vacation in Hawaii, or consider capturing the scene you see outside your office window every day.

3. Don’t Use Too Much Text

It might be tempting to cram as much text as you can into an image, but this kind of approach only spells disaster. If you have too much going on in one space, people will be confused. Keep it simple. Get the message across with as few words as possible. You don’t need an entire paragraph when one or two sentences suffice. Not only is this important for design but facebook has a rule about not using more then 20% text on ad.

4. Find a Color Theme

Try to match the colors used in your design. They should complement each other and mix well. This will help you create something more attractive.

When you sketch your plans first, you don’t have to play around for an hour on Photoshop before you figure out what you want to do.
