How to Create a Culture of Blogging

You already know that blogging is a great way to spread the word about your business and strengthen ties with your customers. Now you want your employees to catch the bug. You want them to care about blogging as much as you do. But how do you create a culture of blogging in your office? How do you get everyone on the same page?

Brainstorm with Employees for Ideas

You don’t want an employee to contribute to the business blog if they don’t care about the given topic. You can avoid this problem by setting up a meeting and asking everyone present to brainstorm. Challenge them to come up with a certain amount of ideas. What relevant subjects do they consider interesting? If someone is struggling, tell them to pretend they’re answering a customer’s question. What would the customer need to know? Even if the employee never contributes to the blog, they’ll feel included. They’ll start to feel more involved and influential in what happens to the blog. Have a brainstorming session at least once a month.

Start Writing Entries Based On the Chosen Ideas

Once you have a pile of great ideas, start using them. Don’t stick them in a drawer and forget about them – this defeats the purpose. Hand the ideas to the blog contributors they work best with, and let everyone go to town – within reason. The passion that the writer has for a subject will show through the words. Readers will appreciate the enthusiasm and want to learn more about you and what you do. When the writers feel that people love what they post to the blog, they’ll want to do more. Your office will be brimming with blogging culture.

Keep Up the Momentum

When you get the ball rolling, don’t let it stop. Encourage the people in your office to continue to think about what to do next. If someone comes up with an idea while they’re going about their daily tasks, instruct them to write it down. Send mass emails informing people about positive blog feedback from readers. Put up signs.
