1. Figure out your audience.

One of the most common mistakes that businesses make is not honing in on who their target audience is. It’s imperative to know who you audience is [ and what your goals are ] so that you have the guidance to create an impactful video but also to create an impactful marketing campaign. Who is your video being created for? What’s your end goal? Once you identify these things not only will it make creating your video easier, it will help streamline your choices when pushing the video through advertising and/or boosted posts.

2. Upload your video directly to Facebook

A lot of people may not think twice about how they put their video on Facebook, whether it’s uploaded directly onto Facebook or just a link through a third party site like YouTube. Guess what? Like every little detail, this detail also matters. Facebook loves Facebook, so uploading a video natively onto Facebook is more likely to have higher engagement then sharing a link. Try this little trick for yourself and you’ll see great results.

3. Capture your audience’s attention within the first 10 seconds.

I say capture your audience’s attention within the first 10 seconds but realistically it could [ and depending on the video maybe should ] capture their attention earlier. The basic premise though is that you want to capture your audience attention as early on as possible to help retain their view till the end of your video.  More then that, when you’re on a platform like Facebook, they have auto play so the video should have a powerful impact to incentivize people to continue to watch.

4. Create content exclusively for social media

There’s nothing more frustrating then seeing a company use the same video on their commercials, website and recycle it online. Social media is an opportunity to create something special and unique that is ONLY on social media. This gives users an opportunity to feel connected to your brand. It also gives a little bit more authenticity to it.

5. Create likable videos that are shareable.  Inspire your viewers

When it comes to creating videos, especially for ads or boosted posts, it’s imperative to be original and creative.  Have a strategy and an end goal to your videos. Creating a video that shows personality, love, compassion will go a lot further then a video of someone simply reciting the services you have to offer. Think creatively, think alternatively and do something outside of the box! Take a risk, but most importantly make sure that the video is likable and shareable. You want engagement and the best way to ensure that you get it, is to make it likable.

6. Serve a purpose

Creating a likable and shareable video is crucial but so is making sure that your video serves a purpose. Are you hitting your goals? Whatever that may be. Whatever your personal video style may be, make sure you’re giving information and educating your audience – on whatever it is you want them to know.

7. Make sure there’s a call to action.

One of the biggest mistakes businesses make is not putting a call to action button on their video. Funny thing about Facebook is that it gives you the option to have one! There’s no reason to ignore it. Call to actions are so easily forgotten but so important.  With Facebook videos you get to not only pick your call to action but can then direct them to what specific URL you would like them to land on. The perfect way to drive people from your Facebook page directly to your landing page. Did you know that you can even figure out where your video distributes ?

8. Make sure to do A/B Testing

It’s always a great idea to create more then one video of the same “idea”. This allows you to figure out which video connects more with your audience. Creating two videos and testing them both on boosted posts and advertising will help you dial in the best ROI on your money spent.
